SplashMoney - Personal Finance Manager App Reviews

I have used splash money since 2004 on palm & till now. It was and still ( on palm) the best finance a application. I use it with the desktop and send accounting details to my accountant. I design my own icons as well. It is simply the best ( but on palm format). The iPhone product is no where close to my palm product. I installed it and purchased the desktop for iPhone. I tried to transfer DATA from the desktop palm to desktop iPhone and then to iPhone. The categories, payees will not be remembered. That means i have to re- enter all the categories and payees that I had stored for last 7 years. The custom icons are gone. Account balances has changed( probably due to transfers transactions). It is also much slower, bulkier, not straight forward. My advise to the engineers if the company wanted to keep their clients ! to: 1- allow easier transfer between the data on desktop palm to desktop iPhone. It should be one file that have all transaction and records ( as in quicken and quick book). 2- allow the ability to create custom icons. 3- what is so difficult with fixing the transfer transaction issue. Is it a rocket science!. 4- fix the synchronization between desktop and iPhone app. 5- allow creating of balance sheet. Is that really difficult!. 6- please please allow us at least to have a choice of palm like interface which was great interface. I wish splashdata team fix these issues otherwise I am stuck with my palm, or probably it is time to experiment with better product on iPhone.

In the words of Seinfeld "You have screwed me for the last time Pennypacker". I have lost my bloody mind over this software I have had so many screw-ups with syncing with the desktop version that I give up. Until you guys fix your software....1 star is all you get.

Im writing this review after the app crashed for the third time after trying to enter a new Payee into my accounts. Sorry Splashwallet, I really should expect better than this.

This update did not address the issues I previously raised. I had Splashmoney with my Treo and it worked much better. In the Accounts View, the Cleared amount shows the right balance at the bottom, but the Account totals are not the Cleared amounts from the individual accounts. You have to go within each individual Account to see the true Cleared amounts. The Cleared totals should show in the Accounts view. Also duplicate entries show up in the Categories listing. The Treo/Palm version worked much better. Fix these annoyances to get a higher scoring.

If you are looking for an exercise in futility this is the perfect app for you. This app WILL screw up all your balances between the desktop and the iPhone if the sync even works at all. Customer service and technical support is practically non existent even though they try to make themselves sound big by referring you to this dept or that dept but no one ever resolves your issues. This app has serious reliability issues. (you can go for days or even weeks without any issues, then all of a sudden after a sync session to the desktop non of the balances are in sync anymore an there is absolutely no way to resolve it. I have deleted the app to prevent me from banging my head against the wall in trying to balance everything.

My Current review I like this app for our money budget. I really dont use desktop so I dont care about syncing but still hoping you will fix that area so everyone is happy. The thing is right now this app is always crushes. That is annoying. But I still like it because all I want to know is how much will be left to me if I input all my incomes and expenses at one time. And the upcoming events do all the others for me. But please fix the crashing problem. Thank you! -------------------- This was my comment last 23nov2009... Wow I wasted time and money looking for an finance app that is the same as the one I had in my PDA. At last I found it. It is actually better. Wow 1.99, 2.99, 4.99, .99, 1.99. Wow 13 bucks and did not give me what I am expecting. Now I am just so so so happy. The " upcoming event " I am looking for. The so easy touch and I know right away how much will be left to me. I just hope that I had seen this long time ago. Now my search is over. And it saved me 49.99 money that I am planning to use to buy a battery for my PDA just becoz I cant find app that is the same as PDA money. That saved me a big amount of money. Thanks.

Having a blackberry for sometime now using Ascendo Money had me up in arms to switch to iPhone since the application was not comparable with the iPhone ... But behold Splash Money came to my rescue and proved worthy Good Job !

I have been using Splash products for over 10 years and have never had any problems. Their products have always been the best! From products on the Palm platform to now...WOW! There is NOTHING better. Their service is SO helpful and prompt. I have never been let down or had a question unanswered. They really stand behind their products and you dont have to wait days for support.

I have been using Splash money since 2004 when I bought my first palm pilot. It was the best personal finance program. It was user friendly and thorough at the same time and made my life much easier. Until last couple of years when I had to convert from palm to I-touch. I was able to transfer my data to the desktop version but when I tried to sync desktop with I-touch every thing got messed up. Some of my accounts disappeared and categories and numbers changed or got duplicated. For the past 2 years I tried many ways to fix the sync problem but didnt work. So for now the app is completely useless and Im just using the desktop version. I love this program and truly hope they fix it soon.

I used to use this app religiously. Used to love it. But seriously, when are you guys coming up with an update? Support for iPhone 5, crash issues, bugs, etc.

Things that is not working anymore since upgrading to ios8. Could not delete transactions. If you put the wrong password you need to restart the app. Adding and deleting account sometimes is not working. App keeps on hanging up. Please fix

Great pie graphs, good if not perfect support of the yen (still need to tap the zero two extra times when entering an amount), great multiple account support. Splashdata needs to make entries easier to enter on the fly (a large built in keyboard would be very nice), and perhaps a default screen so we can make entries faster. I suggested these to Splashdata, but my guess is till they get the iPhone SplashMoney to sync more reliably to the Desktop SplashMoney(I dont use the desktop, anyways, perhaps the 3.0 update will really help them out), I dont see the update I want coming soon. I like their program a lot, but found myself not using it to make entries when I was in a hurry just cause it took too long. I may check back on SplashMoney in a while, if the current program Im using doesnt integrate the income pie graph (I need to see where my money is coming from). Shows promise.... but I was disappointed this app hadnt been updated to make it easier to use on the fly, and that there hadnt been an update for some time.

This program did not work properly for iOS 5 and app owner firm has not made any update since 2009. Very important fuction for finance app is report fuction dosent work.

Dont buy this app if you need to sync with more than one iphone since the app doesnt allow it. Ive lost 8 euros to install it on my iPhone and my wifes plus a few hours setting up all accounts and latest expenses. Ive contacted the helpdesk and they told me you cannot sync the same set of datas between two iphones and the desktop application. Useless!!

Does pretty much everything an iTouch plus Windows user would want without having to become an accountant but: 1. You *really* need the desktop part (which is also very good) 2. The synching with the desktop is awful--you never know what result youll get *unless* you make sure that you synch in *one* direction at a time only (i.e. dont synch "simultaneously!)

I am using the Windows version (basic but working) but I can not use it as I planned - input both on Iphone and on PC and bidirectional sync. The bidir sync destroys the data and there is no way to recovery. A one-way sync, pc->iphone works with frequent crash. A am worried about the missing updates, it looks SplashData decided not to maintain the program. I am thinking to switch to an other tool throwing away 20+€ and a year of experience.

After updating iPhone to IOS 8.1 the application doesnt work anymore. See several references to this argument on the web. Why are they still selling this application?

Ive enjoyed this product for many years now starting from Palm to iOS. The past couple of months have been a support nightmare. SplashMoney had been freezing, losing data, and unable to delete records... Ive asked a number of times when this will be fixed but they dont have an answer and complain about iOS support. IF THEY CAN RELEASE A NEW VERSION OF SPLASH WALLET ON iOS 8, THEN THEY CAN FIX THIS APP. Really disappointed!!!

Dont buy this product. I cant get my iPad or iPhone to sync with the desktop and the customer support is horrible.
